Less Than Three Weeks to Apply for $300,000 R&D Grant

VANCOUVER, JUNE 20, 2024 There’s still time to submit an application for Innovate BC’s Ignite program, which awards funding to accelerate commercialization for B.C.-based research and development projects that are developing game-changing innovations. 

Ignite offers up to $300,000 to research and industry partnerships that are innovating in the areas of natural resources, applied sciences, and engineering, with the application window for this year’s intake running until July 8, 2024 at 11:59 PM PDT. Supporting the Province of B.C.’s StrongerBC Economic Plan, the Ignite program aids B.C. businesses with the funds needed to add value to industries, create new jobs, and accelerate growth in B.C.’s economy.  

“We encourage all eligible B.C. innovators to apply and capitalize on the opportunity to receive support that can help bring their groundbreaking ideas to market,” said Peter Cowan, President + CEO of Innovate BC. “From its inception, the Ignite program has been instrumental in helping foster cutting-edge innovations and solutions, bolstering B.C.’s vibrant ecosystem and solving real-world challenges for the region and its residents. We look forward to seeing the next wave of transformative projects that will emerge from this year’s applicants.” 

The funding offered through the Ignite program opens doors to many B.C.-based companies and researchers working to solve significant challenges seen in B.C. Former Ignite winning projects are providing solutions in the areas of cleantech, energy, mining, forestry, and agriculture.  

Since Ignite launched in 2016, $12.2M has been awarded to 52 projects.
